WEEK 9: 11/10 - 11/16

My TikTok feed this week has been full of three things: political videos and memes, Taylor Swift (conspiracies, concert outfits, etc.), and workout ideas. I started to think about how random these three categories are, but I engage with all of them. I follow a couple different workout influencers, but I don't usually have as many workout videos as I have had this week. Today I decided to do one of the stair stepper workouts I saw on TikTok and let me tell you it was HARD. It was a really good opportunity for me to change up my regular workout routine and try something new. Like all things, I think media can be good in moderation. For example, it helps me stay connected with my sisters and my friends, gives me a needed break from homework, and helps me branch out and try new recipes, workouts, etc. It is important to regulate our media use so it does not take over our lives, but I do think the media has a lot of good qualities that should not be overlooked.

  1. This is so relatable and similar to some things I talked about in my post this week! I too have been trying to focus on the positive sides of media and using it in a way that enhances my life rather than distracts. I love getting new workout ideas, recipes, and even hairstyles etc from the fun random videos I see.

  2. Taylor Swift conspiracies? Tell me more. The tiktok algorithms are so interesting to me. Even if I only engage with something once, it shows me more, so I have to be careful to only engage with the things I want to see again.

  3. I really like how you’re finding balance in your media use by using TikTok to discover new workout routines and stay connected with friends and family. It’s cool that you turned one of those workout videos into a challenge for yourself—it shows how media can inspire positive change. Your point about moderation is spot on; it’s all about enjoying the benefits without letting it take over. Media really does have some great qualities when used thoughtfully!
